seek & find

I was just in Salt Lake for General Conference with my Dad and brother. We decided to go looking for our pioneer ancestor's monument. First we had to find the old pioneer cemetery, mostly guess work. It was huge. There must be over a quarter million people buried there as far as the eye can see. Finally we stop the car and I got out on foot determined to find them anyway. lol. I vocally made my intentions known to the universe and just kept moving, one foot in front of the other. I fully expected to find them. I made a wide loop then shot strait down the hill. I just happened to look down and bam! There they were at my feet. I almost ran right passed the 'Knowlton' monument when I practically stubbed my toe on it! Directly downhill from where we stopped the car. I could have gone down ANY row or column, Bulls-eye. All this within a few minutes, as the golden sun set in the west. It's the law of attraction! They luv me (sniff) :P

more to come..

We visited the beatiful Red Butte Botanical Gardens @ USU. This land and quary belonged to our ancestor Sydney Algernon Knowlton. His beautiful red and white striped rock was used for the foundation of the Salt Lake Temple, and to build Fort Douglas at the university there. I suspect it's the same red rock at the base of the gate that encircles temple square. Take a look. The last two streets that take you to the gardens are Wakara and Arapine. That is Chief Walker and his warrior brother, Arapine, who shot Grandfather Clark and his horse. He pursued Clark for many years but could not kill him because, he later said, "the great spirit is with him.". When ever he got a bead on Clark his trigger finger would not work. I did not assosciate those names with Sydney so much. So I was suprized.

I was happy taking days to inventory our family history, wondering temple square in autumns gentle rain, Chuck Aramas and fine dining. I took much comfort worshiping in the house of my fathers, the old tabernacle. The new conference center is large & lovely. God bless our prophet dear. I heard what I needed to hear from general conference. "women who know..do less & be more." yes! How would it feel to just be?

That was the last conference I would see you President Hinkley. Dad gave me his ticket so I could see you in person once more. Today you went home at age 97. 'Til we meet again our beloved prophet. And thank you.

I think I might have finaly cracked the mistery of the screwy password paradigm, but maybe not we'll see if I can make a post on a different day. For what ever reason when it asked for the ID it is really wanting the email account. I have been trying to use my google account ID and it wasn't working. Go figure. Anyway I have wanting to comment on this post for some time now. It must have been a wonderfull experiance to be in the confrence center on that occasion and to sit at the feet of President Hinckley on last time. I really appreciate your story about finding the grave site. Obviously there were angels guiding your steps. Great testimony of the spirit of Elijah. Thank you for sharing.
